ELCRACK® system sold to DFRL, India

The Defence Food Research Lab (DFRL) was established at Mysore in the Indian federal state of Karnataka in 1961. Within the past years, the institute developed to become the leading research and development service provider for the food industry in India. Its main activities include the development of safe food with prolonged shelf life, the production of RTE products as well as packaging technology. Since 2007, there is a close contact between DFRL and the German Institute of Food Technologies (DIL) which is intensified by mutual visits and participation in international conferences. Early 2009, the DFRL acquired a pilot scale ELCRACK® system from DIL. The system will be installed in September. In January, a training was conducted for scientists from DFRL and DIL at Quakenbrück. With this system, the DFRL will be able to expand its technological services by a highly efficient process. This system is the first of its kind on the Indian sub-continent. It will be used mainly for the treatment of tropical fruits and fruit juices such as mango, papaya or coconut milk.
